About Captain John and Your Day of Fishing in Islamorada

Welcome!

Islamorada tarpon fishing

My boat is a custom built 18-foot Terry backcountry skiff with a 125 hp Mercury outboard.  It is rigged with two chairs and a bench seat that will accommodate up to three anglers.  There is plenty of dry storage for your gear and a built in drink box for keeping your lunch and drinks cold all day long.  The boat is docked at the world famous Bud n Mary’s Marina which is located in the heart of the Florida Keys fishing grounds off of US HWY 1 at mile marker 79.3 in Islamorada.

I provide all of the tackle and bait that you will need for your day’s fishing adventure.  The tackle ranges from Ultra light to heavy spinning tackle that accommodates 6 to 30 pound line. For those of you who enjoy the art of fly fishing I also have a full complement of fly tackle for you to use.  We will use live, dead, and artificial bait depending on the conditions and species that you want to target.  Everything that you need to catch fish on your trip is provided.  You will need to bring with you lunch, drinks, sunscreen, camera etc.

I offer a variety of trips to meet your needs.  Half day trips are about four hours and generally run from 7:30 to 11:30am and noon to 4pm.  Full day trips trip leave at 7:30am and return around 3:30pm.  Night Tarpon trips and early morning trips are also available.  I enjoy working with anglers of all abilities and welcome those looking for a variety of action and fun or that have specific species targets in mind.  Most of all we’re out to have a fun, safe, and productive day on the water.  I look forward to the possibility of fishing the amazing Islamorada backcountry with you.  Please feel free to call me at the number below or send me an email to make a reservation or discuss any questions you may have.

All the best,
Capt. John
